Since 1805, our Philadelphia office has served private collectors, estates, corporations, museums, and institutions. Notable highlights include the Estate of "Dodo" Dorrance Hamilton, featuring American and European works of art and fine jewelry, including a Paul Cézanne that sold for $1,460,000 and an important diamond ring that realized $802,000, contributing to a $6 million auction. Other landmark sales include the Collection of George D. Horst, featuring Bucks County Pennsylvania Impressionists and led by Edward Willis Redfield at $745,000, with a single-owner auction totaling $4.3 million; Selected Contents of Vaux Hill: The Collection of Robert & Barbara Safford, which realized $3.8 million; and the white-glove sale of the Lehman Brothers Collection of Postwar and Contemporary Art, totaling $2.7 million.

Notable individual lot successes include Charles Carroll's copy of the Declaration of Independence, which sold for $4,420,000, setting the highest auction price for a 19th-century American document; The Nursing Madonna, which sold for $2,470,000 in February 2019, establishing a world auction record for the anonymous artist; and a rare Chinese imperial double-dragon white jade seal that achieved a record-breaking $3,500,000 at Freeman's.
