A large Japanese enameled porcelain "Cranes and Waves" bowl, Kanzan Denshichi (1821-Circa 1890) Meiji period, late 19th Century

Of tapered cylindrical form, the exterior decorated en grisaille with flying cranes above crashing waves, punctuated by areas of color. The interior with flowering prunus in gilt, "brocade" border to rim, underside inscribed "Dai Nippon Kanzan sei".
