Each with an open balloon back on a shaped overupholstered seat on cabriole legs ending in slipper feet.

Provenance: Estate of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wister, Oldwick, New Jersey.

Descended in the Wister family to the present owners. The chairs were probably used in the Wister family ancestral home, Grumblethorpe, in Germantown, Philadelphia, now a National Historic Landmark.
